Gratitude in Action
"Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today, and creates a vision for tomorrow.” - Melody Beattie
The Gratitude Project is an exploration of the life-changing universal theme of gratitude. Participating students question and identify evidence of gratitude in the aftermath of life’s greatest challenges. Through the interview of an elder, students uncover details of their family legacy. In-class interviews provide students a shared relevant experience with participants who have overcome significant odds (war, immigration, prejudice, poverty, disabilities, educational obstacles, etc.) Reflections through art and writing allow students to connect and respond to their developing sense of personal gratitude.
